O potencial terapêutico dos Psicodélicos no tratamento de Distúrbios Psiquiátricos

• Abstract: The aim of this study is to examine the impact of non-recreational use of psychedelic substances on the human body and explore their therapeutic consequences, including potential benefits and associated risks. An integrative literature review was conducted using the Virtual Health Library (BVS) and the National Library of Medicine (PubMed). The search for articles considered the descriptors "psychedelics," "therapy," "psychiatric" using the Boolean operator "AND." Articles published between 2018 and 2023 were included in the study, comprising full and free texts of controlled and randomized clinical trials. Titles and abstracts that did not align with the research scope, articles not relating the therapeutic use of psychedelics to psychiatric disorders, those associating psychiatric disorders with drug classes other than psychedelics, systematic reviews, and literature reviews were excluded, resulting in a total of 25 articles. The studies revealed that Psilocybin, LSD, MDMA, ayahuasca, and dextromethorphan demonstrated promising efficacy in treating various psychiatric disorders such as treatment-resistant depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and alcohol use. Different doses showed encouraging results, with Psilocybin standing out due to its lower propensity for adverse effects. LSD microdoses were effective against anhedonic states, while MDMA improved anxiety and depression without increasing the risk of alcohol abuse. Despite these advancements, the need for further studies is evident for a more comprehensive understanding of these therapies.
