O PODER BRANDO COMO ARMA DE SEDUÇÃO DO BIG STICK EM VOLTA REDONDA SOB A ÓTICA DA REVISTA EM GUARDA: PARA A DEFESA DAS AMÉRICAS (1941-1945)
A revista Em Guarda para a defesa das Américas serviu como uma arma de sedução norte-americana durante a Segunda Guerra Mundial (política da boa vizinhança), com a intenção de estender os ideais capitalistas, suprir a demanda de aço dos países aliados e expandir o american way of life. Sob a responsabilidade de Nelson Rockfeller, foi criada a OCCIA que fez do Birô, o principal instrumento de penetração no Brasil. Em parceria com o DIP, estendeu as suas atividades no Brasil, contribuiu para a efetividade da filantropia e a circulação desse periódico corroborou para construção da Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional (CSN). Durante a análise foi possível detectar o discurso e as representações construídas acerca da América Latina, encarada como um novo oeste a ser domado e civilizado. A Hegemonia surgiu como uma ação que foi exercida pelo consenso da sociedade.

Abstract:
The magazine Em Guarda para a Defesa das Américas asserved as a weapon of north-american seduction during World War II (good neighbor policy), with the intention of extending capitalist ideals, supplying the steeldem and of the allied countries and expanding the American way of life. Under the responsibility of Nelson Rockfeller, the OCCIA was created, which made the Birô the main instrument of penetration in Brazil. In partnership with the DIP, it expanded its activities in Brazil, contributed to the effective ness of philanthropy and the circulation of this periodic alsupported the construction of the Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional (CSN). During the analysis, it was possible to detect the discourse and representations builta bout Latin America, seen as a new West to be tamed and civilized. Hegemony emerged as anaction that was exercised by the consensus of society.
