O PLANO DE VALORIZAÇÃO ECONÔMICA DA AMAZÔNIA (1946-1964) E SEUS IMPACTOS PERCEBIDOS PELOS CENSOS AGROPECUÁRIOS
O Plano de Valorização Econômica
da Amazônia (PVEA) é analisado neste artigo
tanto em objetivo e discurso (através de revisão
bibliográfica) como em resultado (através de
análise dos censos agropecuários de 1940,
50 e 60). Parte da literatura atribui o início da
problemática amazônica aos feitios do governo
militar, porém, analisando a PVEA fica claro que
os elementos característicos das políticas dos
governos militares para a região já estavam
no cerne das políticas que precederam este
período (como a PVEA).

Abstract:
The Amazônia Economic Valuation
Plan (PVEA) is analyzed in this article both in
objective and discourse (through bibliographical
revision) and in result (through analysis of the
agricultural censuses of 1940, 50 and 60). Part
of the literature attributes the beginning of the
Amazônia problem to the military government,
but analyzing the PVEA, it is clear that the
characteristic elements of military government
policies for the region were already at the heart
of the policies that preceded this period.
