Abstract: The general aim of this work is to investigate and understand the profile of teachers in the face of this new approach to teaching mathematics. The study is based on a bibliographical survey that analyses the competences and skills allowed to act as a facilitator of active learning, promoting student autonomy and contextualizing mathematical knowledge. The references used include those investigating difficulties in solving math problems, teachers' views on active learning methodologies and the challenges of teaching practice today. The contributions of these references are integrated to understand how teachers can adapt to the new teaching profile, focusing on problem-solving strategies, social representations, teacher training and pedagogical mediation. In the context of the results of this research, the need for teachers to adapt to changes in teaching methodologies stands out, becoming facilitators of active learning and promoters of student autonomy.
