Abstract: Since the 1970s and 1980s, medium-sized cities have gained prominence in Brazil's economic and spatial dynamics, assuming the role of strategic centers. The decentralization of decisions and the autonomy of states and municipalities, driven by the 1988 Constitution, have contributed to the rise of medium-sized cities as protagonists in urban development. This chapter highlights the role of medium-sized cities in the implementation of the Minha Casa Minha Vida Program in Paraná as being of great relevance. The cities of Londrina, Maringá, Cascavel and Ponta Grossa are identified as urban centers of influence in the state, playing strategic roles in the urban network. Housing policy, such as the Minha Casa Minha Vida Program, has been fundamental in this context, with medium-sized cities playing a crucial role in promoting affordable, quality housing in the region.
