O MUSEU DÁ SAMBA: comemorações do bicentenário do Museu Nacional/UFRJ
O artigo reflete sobre o papel
social do Museu Nacional/MN, como exemplo
de popularização das Ciências no Carnaval
de 2018, em duas ações comemorativas aos
duzentos anos da instituição: o Museu Nacional
no Carnaval e o Carnaval no Museu Nacional.
As comemorações oficiais do bicentenário do
MN/UFRJ foram iniciadas no Carnaval carioca
em fevereiro de 2018, na ocasião em que o
Grêmio Recreativo Escola de Samba Imperatriz
Leopoldinense /GRESIL apresentou seu desfile
com o tema “Uma noite Real no Museu Nacional”
na Marques de Sapucai. A experiência desta
primeira ação, realizada ao longo de 2017,
será narrada detalhadamente visando registrar
esta oportunidade ímpar de comemorar a
história da instituição de forma lúdica, com a
atuação do Carnavalesco Cahê Rodrigues.

forte visibilidade internacional - o Carnaval. A
segunda ação comemorativa do bicentenário,
realizada em 2018 em 18 de Maio, aconteceu
por ocasião da 16ª Semana de Museus,
idealizada pelo Instituto Brasileiro de Museus/
IBRAM, cujo tema foi ressaltar os duzentos
anos dos museus no Brasil. O presidente do
IBRAM, Marcelo Araújo, inaugurou a exposição
de curta duração do Museu Nacional/UFRJ de
título: “O Museu dá samba: A Imperatriz é o
Relicário do Bicentenário do Museu Nacional”,
com a apresentação das fantasias da GRESIL.
Neste evento, a direção do Museu fez o caminho
inverso, levou o Carnaval “da Sapucaí” para as
suas salas expositivas do ambiente acadêmico
universitário. Dessa forma, duas ações
caracterizam a popularização das ciências em
plena comemoração do bicentenário.

Abstract:
The article reflects on the social
role of the National Museum/MN, as an
example of popularization of the Sciences in
the Carnival of 2018, in two memorial actions to
the institution’s two hundred years: The National
Museum in Carnival and the Carnival in the
National Museum. The official commemorations
of the MN/UFRJ bicentennial began in the Carnival of Rio de Janeiro in February 2018,
at the time when the Gremio Recreativo Samba School Imperatriz Leopoldinense /
GRESIL presented its parade with the theme “A Royal Evening at the National Museum”
at Marques de Sapucai. The experience of this first action, carried out throughout 2017,
will be narrated in detail in order to record this unique opportunity to commemorate the
history of the institution in a playful way, with the performance of the Carnavalesco Cahê
Rodrigues in the largest national cultural event and with strong international visibility
- the Carnival. The second commemorative event of the bicentennial, which was held
in 2018 on May 18, took place at the 16th Museum Week, conceived by the Brazilian
Institute of Museums / IBRAM, whose theme was to highlight the two hundred years of
the museums in Brazil. The IBRAM president, Marcelo Araújo, inaugurated the short
exhibition of the National Museum/UFRJ with the title: “The Museum gives samba:
The Imperatriz is the Reliquary of the Bicentennial of the National Museum”, with the
presentation of the fantasies of the GRESIL. In this second event, the direction of the
Museum made the opposite way, took the Carnival “from Sapucaí” to its exhibition
rooms of the university academic environment. Thus, both events characterize the
popularization of sciences in the bicentennial celebration.
