O MITO DE NARCISO REVISITADO POR JOSÉ RÉGIO E JORGE DE SENA
Resumo: José Régio, pseudónimo literário de José Maria dos Reis Pereira (1901-1969), e Jorge de Sena (1919-1978) são dois vultos proeminentes da literatura e da cultura portuguesas, que atravessaram o século XX rompendo com as convenções literárias e as orientações históricas e político-ideológicas do seu tempo. Régio e Sena tiveram percursos literários distintos - o primeiro foi fundador da revista Presença, que marcou indelevelmente o Segundo Modernismo Português, e Sena um autor cuja obra não se filia a nenhuma corrente literária embora nele sejam evidentes as influências surrealistas e neoclássicas. Os dois escritores interpretaram o mundo e a sua contemporaneidade através da palavra poética, fazendo das suas obras testemunhos de uma experiência (auto)contemplativa e intelectualizada em que o lirismo se presentifica na linguagem e na metamorfose do real. Assim, e atendendo ao facto de na obra poética de ambos estar presente o conflito entre o Eu e o Outro, nas suas mais diversas representações, propusemo-nos analisar comparativamente dois poemas, ambos intitulados “Narciso”, em que Régio e Sena recuperam e recriam o mito grego - de forma mais intimista e autognóstica, no poema regiano, e mais distanciada no de Jorge de Sena, sendo que, neste último, mais do que a figura mitológica em si, é a condição humana (no que esta tem de mais superficial e egocêntrico) que é posta em causa.

Abstract: José Régio, literary pseudonym of José Maria dos Reis Pereira (1901-1969), and Jorge de Sena (1919-1978) are two prominent figures of Portuguese literature and culture, who crossed the 20th century breaking with literary conventions and the historical and political-ideological orientations of his time. Régio and Sena had different literary paths - the first was the founder of the magazine Presença, which indelibly marked the Second Portuguese Modernism, and Sena an author whose work is not affiliated with any literary current although there are evident surrealist and neoclassical influences. The two writers interpreted the world and its contemporaneity through the poetic word, making their works testimonies of a (self) contemplative and intellectualized experience in which lyricism is present in the language and metamorphosis of the real. Thus, and given the fact that in the poetic work of both the conflict between the Self and the Other is present, in their most diverse representations, we set out to analyze comparatively two poems, both entitled “Narciso”, in which Régio and Sena recover and recreate the Greek myth - in a more intimate and autognostic way, in the Regian poem, and more distant in that of Jorge de Sena, being that, in the latter, more than the mythological figure itself, it is the human condition (in what it has to more superficial and self-centered) that is called into question.
