O JORNAL COMO INSTRUMENTO DE ORGANIZAÇÃO E ARTICULAÇÃO DOS MOVIMENTOS SOCIAIS URBANOS: O CASO DO JORNAL DA PERIFERIA
Dentre as estratégias de organização e atuação dos movimentos sociais, as produções comunicativas ocupam lugar de grande importância. Inclusive, alguns jornais cumpriram um papel decisivo no processo de organização e articulação de movimentos sociais urbanos, em especial, no contexto da periferia de grandes metrópoles. Nesse sentido, esse artigo tem como objetivo apresentar a experiência do Jornal da Periferia, que circulou durante a década de 1980 na região sul da cidade de São Paulo, por meio da análise de conteúdo. Verificamos que o Jornal da Periferia contribuiu decisivamente para o fortalecimento das lutas sociais e das organizações populares na referida região paulistana.

Abstract:
Among the strategies of organization and action of the social movements, the communicative productions occupy place of great importance. Indeed, some newspapers played a decisive role in the process of organizing and articulating urban social movements, especially in the context of the periphery of large metropolises. In this sense, this article aims to present the experience of Jornal da Periferia, which circulated during the 1980s in the southern region of the city of São Paulo, through content analysis. We verified that Jornal da Periferia contributed decisively to the strengthening of the social struggles and popular organizations in the aforementioned region of São Paulo.
