Abstract: Technology has profoundly transformed various sectors of society, and healthcare is no exception. In nursing practice, the integration of advanced technologies has led to significant changes, improving the efficiency, precision and quality of care. This is an Integrative Literature Review based on the guiding question: What are the challenges and opportunities of using technology in nursing practice? Articles were collected from the Virtual Health Library (VHL) and PUBMED, using the National Library of Medicine (NLM) platform, which compiles records from the MEDLINE database. Articles written in Portuguese and English and published in the last five years (2019-2023) in scientific journals were included, excluding duplicate studies, editorials, opinion and reflection articles or those that did not fit directly into the chosen theme. Eight articles were identified and analyzed. Most of the articles were published in the last five years (2019-2023), reflecting current trends and recent innovations in the field of health technology. This temporal distribution highlights the contemporary relevance of the topic. The results show that one of the main positive impacts of information technology for nursing practice is improved efficiency and quality of care. The opportunities presented by information technologies are vast. Telemedicine, for example, has shown significant potential for expanding access to health care, especially in rural or under-resourced areas. The integration of technology into nursing practice presents a scenario full of challenges and opportunities. Technological tools such as electronic health records, telemedicine and mobile applications have the potential to revolutionize patient care, promoting more efficient and accessible assistance. However, the adoption of these technologies also requires nursing professionals to adapt to new tools and develop technical skills, which can generate resistance and insecurity.
