Abstract: Exclusive breastfeeding until six months of age is crucial for the healthy development of a child. The present study aims to analyze the relationships between allergies and their impact on children, adolescents, and their families, in order to assist healthcare professionals in managing these potentially complex cases. A search was conducted in PubMed and Google Scholar databases, including articles published in the last 10 years, specifically addressing the influence of exclusive breastfeeding on the development of allergies in children. After applying criteria and reviewing the literature, 22 articles were selected. Breastfeeding during the first six months of life has proven to be highly effective in preventing allergies in children. Furthermore, articles were evaluated demonstrating that guidance on proper technique, necessary duration, and potential challenges are essential knowledge for healthcare professionals, and that early maternal return to the workforce may be associated with early weaning. It is concluded that breast milk is indispensable in a child's life as it provides the energy and essential nutrients to support proper and healthy development and growth, both in childhood and adulthood.
