Abstract: This research was born out of a systematic study of the Indigenous peoples of Roraima, including their life, their customs, and their friendly interaction with non-Indigenous people, and, on the other hand, the illegal and predatory mining activity damaging nature as a consequence of the irregular extractive activities developed in the Raposa Serra do Sol Indigenous land with the acquiescence of state and federal authorities. The aim of this paper is to show the ancestral characteristics of the best-known indigenous ethnic group in Roraima with their respective locations, population, way of life, customs, and traditions, among other aspects of their social organization. Finally, we present a critical review of the social, ethnical, cultural, and economic impacts suffered by the Indigenous people of Roraima as a result of miners’ devastating invasions on their territories, especially on the Indigenous lands of the Yanomami.
