Abstract: Physical exercise is seen by many as recreation, but it has high positive values for health. Any activity that maintains or increases overall physical fitness stimulates the immune system to produce numerous endogenous substances that help prevent various cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, obesity, moderate cholesterol and drastically reduce depression and anxiety. All exercise must be performed under the guidance of a qualified health or sports professional, who can demonstrate the benefits in relation to the risks of each exercise, since some methods used can cause harm (e.g.: excess weight in CrossFit, improperly used weight training equipment, among others). Chronic pain is persistent or recurrent, lasting more than 3 months, of unknown cause and not necessarily associated with an injury to the body, but should be treated as soon as possible. The main objective of this study was to analyze the main pathophysiological, symptomatic and diagnostic changes regarding patients who used physical exercise as a strategy to reduce chronic pain. A search for works was carried out on the SciELO, Virtual Health Library (BVS) and National Library of Medicine (PubMed) platforms and a total of 27 scientific articles were used after applying inclusion and exclusion criteria. Through the observed studies, depression and anxiety were present in most of them, but they could occur with other pathologies such as fibromyalgia. Exercise should be a method studied and used more by health professionals, as it promotes a great improvement in the clinical condition of the patients in this study. In conclusion, it is essential to use these methods on patients in need, and that trained professionals are willing to use the exercises correctly, offering the best possible support therapy.
