O ESTADO DA PISCICULTURA NA AMAZÔNIA BRASILEIRA.
A piscicultura praticada na Região da Amazônia Brasileira apresenta grande potencial de criação de espécies nativas, principalmente o tambaqui, matrinxã e pirarucu. Espécies estas que aportam grande movimentação da cadeia produtiva aquícola nesta Região do País. Contudo, apesar de ser uma atividade que tem nos últimos anos um grande incentvo, disseminando e intensificando a prática da piscicultura, nos últimos anos o desenvolvimento da cadeia ainda esbarra em uma série de entraves, e para o sistema funcionar de maneira eficiente, são necessários investimentos e pesquisas nesse setor. Desse modo, o potencial produtivo da região se mostra atrativo, apesar de alguns entraves, o que não inviabiliza a atividade, fazendo com que esta seja promissora e ainda pode promover melhor uso do meio ambiente. O capítulo irá tratar da atividade piscícola nesta importante Região do País.

Abstract:
Fish farming practiced in the Brazilian Amazon Region has great potential for the creation of native species, especially tambaqui, matrinxã and pirarucu. These species contribute a great deal to the aquaculture production chain in this region of the country. However, despite being an activity that has had a great incentive in recent years, disseminating and intensifying the practice of fish farming, in recent years the development of the chain still comes up against a series of obstacles, and for the system to work efficiently, investments and research in this sector are necessary. In this way, the productive potential of the region is attractive, despite some obstacles, which does not make the activity unfeasible, making it promising and still promoting better use of the environment. The chapter will deal with fish activity in this important region of the country.
