Abstract: The study investigated the application of educational legislation regarding music education in Tupandi and Teutônia, in Rio Grande do Sul, analyzing the implementation of Resolution CNE/CEB 2/2016, which establishes guidelines for music teaching in basic education. The qualitative methodology, through the analysis of official documents and Political-Pedagogical Projects, revealed that both municipalities integrate music into school curricula, but with distinct approaches. Teutônia demonstrates a more consistent and integrated approach, with music as a specific subject from Early Childhood Education and a series of community musical activities, reflecting a commitment to music education. Tupandi, on the other hand, presents a less uniform implementation, with variation in the depth of music teaching among schools, but still following national guidelines. The research highlighted the need to consider the local context in the formulation of educational policies and the importance of hiring specialized teachers to strengthen music education in schools. It is concluded that both municipalities have made significant progress, but with different degrees of effectiveness and cultural impact on the community.
