Abstract: It is becoming a trend in organizations to adopt an administration that makes use of joint decision-making, with greater employee involvement, instilling a sense of belonging and strengthening the company within the competitive market. In this sense, empowerment is a new management model based on collectivity, democracy and the participation of all employees in an organization, aimed at reducing bureaucracy and decentralizing its internal processes, increasing the level of commitment of its employees, and thus improving organizational performance and increasing productivity. The research problem of this article aims to investigate the advantages of adopting empowerment as an instrument of guidance and autonomy for employee decision-making. The general objective was to analyse the benefits of using empowerment as an organizational strategy for employee autonomy. The methodology used was an integrative literature review with a final sample of eight publications that met all the research criteria. The results show that processes become more effective and employees are able to participate more actively in the work process, improving their levels of autonomy and organizational performance.
