Abstract: The thoracolumbar fascia is a complex and strong aponeurotic shell, interconnected through the sacrum, vertebrae, and ribs. The causes that lead to the dysfunction of this set are diverse, such as anatomical variations, sedentary lifestyle, poor posture, occupational activities, overloads, traumas, among several others. It is believed that myofascial release and crochetage techniques can treat locomotor system pain through various therapies, reestablishing and promoting the quality of life of affected individuals. This study aim is to identify the effect of myofascial release and crochetage technique on the thoracolumbar fascia and analyze its therapeutic results. The research is a narrative bibliographic review, carried out between September and November of 2020, through the databases PubMed, PEDro, Lilacx, Google Acadêmico, Electronic Library Scielo, PucGoias journals, inspirar, National Library of Medicine of the U.S., manual therapy posturology and Rehabilitation Journal, including articles in English, published since 2012. The results presented nine scientific articles that adopted the criteria determined by the method. Of these, four alluded to union and comparison in myofascial release with other therapies, while the other five discussed the crochetage technique. We can conclude that the myofascial release technique is highly effective in the treatment of pain and comorbidities of the thoracolumbar fascia, especially in those cases when associated with other types of therapies. Since there are very few studies related to the topic of crochetage technique, the need and the importance of such studies and research that use this modality stands out.
