Abstract: Background: Considering the importance of the nursing work process in the ICU, it is characterized by complex care activities that require high technical and scientific competence, and that, in turn, decision-making requires a perception and adoption of safe behaviors which directly involve patient safety. Therefore, the nurse's management process is of paramount importance, through nursing dimensioning. Problem: In order to understand the experiences of nurses in the development of care, it is considered that the nursing workload is made up of the time spent by the team to carry out the activities under their responsibility, which are directly or indirectly related to patient care, and that these activities are influenced by the degree of dependence of the individual, the complexity of the disease, the characteristics of the institution, the work processes, the physical plant and the profile of the team's professionals, through the scientific evidence described in the literature. Therefore, as a research question, what are the levels of scientific evidence found in the literature about the dimensioning of the nursing team? Objective: This article aims to carry out the search for scientific evidence, through an integrative literature review, on the dimensioning of the nursing team. Methodology: An integrative literature review was carried out in the following databases: Nursing Database (BDENF), Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences (LILACS), Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied (CINAHL) and Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (PUBMED/MEDLINE). For that, the following descriptors will be used: Workload; Sizing; Intensive care unit. Data related to the studies will be compiled and organized through a spreadsheet in a Word document containing the following data: order number, database, study title and authors, descriptors, objective, methodological design, results and main considerations. Results: We found so many studies relevant to the topic, which were held in the first stage, title and abstract, excluding studies not relevant to the topic. Second stage, the full reading of the articles was carried out, and the final selection, which make up this study. The highlights are: Scaling of nursing staff in Health Institutions; Nursing perspectives and the Nursing Now campaign; The Challenge of Knowledge — Qualitative Health Research; Fundamentals of Nursing Research: Evidence Assessment for Nursing Practice
