Abstract: The intersection between afro-descendant consumption and hair transition as a path to female empowerment, especially for black women. The hair transition, a process in which women abandon chemical treatments to adopt their natural hair, is marked by challenges, such as social pressure for beauty standards that value straightened hair. Rising prices for specific cosmetic products make access difficult during this transition. Afro-descendant consumption plays a crucial role in empowerment, as women seek specific products that affirm their identity and value their black aesthetic. This conscious consumption contributes to strengthening self-esteem and valuing hair diversity. The increase in demand for specific products drives the industry to develop more affordable options. Finally, the text addresses tools that help black women build and express their cultural identity, using consumer goods as mediators in cultural reproduction. The appreciation of black identity, including the acceptance of curly hair, is discussed in the educational context, highlighting the importance of teacher training to promote inclusive environments that are respectful of ethnic diversity.
