Abstract: The aim of this chapter is to study the impact of dentin conditioning with different types of irrigating solutions on growth release. Irrigant solutions routinely used in Endodontics in direct contact with dentin may act conditioning it and promoting growth factores release. The variety of fossilized growth factors in dentin may favor regenerative and repair processes mainly in endodontic regenerative and vital pulp therapies. The main 50 irrigant solutions described in the literature includes 10% or 17% EDTA, 10% citric acid, 10% or 37% phosphoric acid, 1.5% NaOCl, IP6 (Phytic Acid) 1% and HEDP (Etidronic Acid) 9%, and associations such as NaOCl 1.5% + EDTA 17%. The main growth factor quantified in the researches was TGF-b1. Among the studies addressing irrigating solutions, most of the articles has showed that EDTA (10% or 17%) allowed greater release of growth factors, especially IGF-1. Although EDTA predominance, some studies showed that 10% Citric Acid was superior to EDTA in the release of TGF-b1, in the recruitment, fixation and survival of stem cells, without increasing its cytotoxic effect. The action potential of chemical substances routinely used in endodontic treatment as conditioning factors in the release of fossilized growth factors in dentin was observed. However, more studies are needed to clarify the best conditioning protocol, to enable conservative and regenerative treatments to be more specifically used from components naturally present in dentin.
