O CENTRO DE REFERÊNCIA EM LEISHMANIOSE DO BAIXO SUL DA BAHIA (1986-2017): CONEXÕES HISTÓRICAS COM A GEOGRAFIA MÉDICA BRASILEIRA
O Centro de Referência em Leishmaniose (CRL) teve sua fundação em 1986, atualmente é uma unidade do Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS) em parceria com Universidade Federal da Bahia, Associação da União dos Moradores do Povoado de Corte Pedra e o município de Presidente Tancredo Neves, Bahia. Portanto, o objetivo deste trabalho é apresentar conexões históricas da Geografia Médica a partir do Centro de Referência em Leishmaniose do Baixo Sul da Bahia no período de 1986 a 2017. Este trabalho consta da pesquisa histórica baseada em análise de documentos do Centro de Referência em Leishmaniose e referenciais teóricos sobre a Geografia Médica. Os resultados mostram a existência de conexões do CRL e com os pesquisadores da Universidade de Brasília (UnB) que vieram realizar estudos sobre a geografia médica da Leishmaniose para seus trabalhos de conclusão de curso (dissertação e tese), e que posteriormente, orientaram a comunidade e participaram efetivamente do movimento e da organização da associação para implantação do CRL que possibilitou atender à população acometida pela Leishmaniose, mesmo antes da existência do SUS. Contudo, podemos afirmar que o processo histórico do CRL permitiu uma conexão com a Geografia Médica Brasileira, evidenciando as contribuições da pesquisa para a ciência e para a sociedade.

Abstract:
The Leishmaniasis Reference Center (CRL) was founded in 1986 and is currently a unit of the Unified Health System (SUS) in partnership with the Federal University of Bahia, the Association of the Union of Residents of the Village of Corte Pedra and the municipality of Presidente Tancredo Neves, Bahia. Therefore, the objective of this work is to present historical connections of Medical Geography from the Leishmaniasis Reference Center of Baixo Sul da Bahia in the period from 1986 to 2017. This work consists of historical research based on document analysis of the Leishmaniasis Reference Center and theoretical references on Medical Geography. The results show the existence of connections between the CRL and the researchers from the University of Brasília (UnB) who came to carry out studies on the medical geography of Leishmaniasis for their course conclusion works (dissertation and thesis), and who later guided the community and effectively participated in the movement and organization of the association for the implementation of the CRL, which made it possible to serve the population affected by Leishmaniasis, even before the existence of the SUS. However, we can say that the historical process of the CRL allowed a connection with Brazilian Medical Geography, highlighting the contributions of research to science and society.
