Abstract: The Biomedical professional is known for his work in supporting laboratory diagnosis, but there are more than 30 different qualifications recognized by the Federal Council of Biomedicine, giving possibilities of acting even at the level of Primary Health Care. This work is an integrative literature review, where searches were carried out on the SciELO, LILACS and Google Scholar platforms using the descriptors: "Biomedical Professional", "Professional practice in SUS" and "Unified Health System", aiming to find works that brought as a central theme the performance of the Biomedical professional in the Unified Health System - SUS. The guiding question of this research was: “What are the difficulties for the performance of the Biomedical in the SUS?”. Thirty-two studies were found, of which 31 studies were chosen by reading the titles and, after reading the abstracts and keywords, 20 were excluded, leaving 11 studies to be read in full. After reading the 11 studies in full, 9 of them were considered eligible for use in this study, as they deal with issues related to the role of Biomedical in SUS. The studies were classified as studies on training/curriculum and on performance, with 5 on performance and 4 on the professional training of these professionals. The Biomedical is one of the 14 professionals recognized as a health professional who, since graduation, must be prepared to work in a multiprofessional and collective way to act in public policies aimed at preventing and maintaining the health of populations, regardless of the area of action that the professional chooses. to follow, being able to act in the most diverse levels of health care, including in management and management positions from the specific qualifications for such.
