Este artigo propõe uma análise concisa do artesanato enquanto uma manifestação significativa do patrimônio cultural imaterial e expressão concreta da identidade cultural de um povo ou região. O foco recai sobre o município de Faxinal do Soturno, que integra o território Geoparque Quarta Colônia, situado no Estado do Rio Grande do Sul. Serão discutidos temas como patrimônio cultural, história e memória; e o artesanato como um símbolo da cultura, da valorização e preservação da identidade cultural e como um fator de desenvolvimento econômico e social. O objetivo da pesquisa é compreender a importância do artesanato como patrimônio cultural e seu papel fundamental na preservação, valorização e transmissão da identidade, história e saberes de um povo. O artesanato não é apenas uma forma de arte, mas também uma herança viva que conecta o presente ao passado.

  • Abstract: This article proposes a concise analysis of handicrafts as a significant manifestation of intangible cultural heritage and a concrete expression of the cultural identity of a people or region. The focus is on the municipality of Faxinal do Soturno, which is part of the Quarta Colônia Geopark territory, located in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. Topics discussed include cultural heritage, history, and memory; and handicrafts as a symbol of culture, the appreciation and preservation of cultural identity, and as a factor in economic and social development. The objective of the research is to understand the importance of handicrafts as cultural heritage and their fundamental role in preserving, appreciating, and transmitting the identity, history, and knowledge of a people. Handicrafts are not only an art form, but also a living heritage that connects the present with the past.
