Abstract: Access to healthcare for incarcerated women faces multiple challenges that negatively impact their physical and mental well-being. Qualitative and quantitative studies highlight several significant barriers. This is an integrative review in which a search was made for studies published in article form between the years 2016 to 2024. The search was carried out from October 2021 to January 2024, in the online databases Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Social and Health Sciences (LILACS), and PubMed. The following descriptors were used: "Access to health services"; "women's health"; "public health policies"; "prisons". This study showed that improving access to health care for incarcerated women requires policy changes that guarantee adequate, timely and respectful health care, as well as external supervision of prison conditions and the provision of health services.
