Abstract: Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) is an inflammatory disease that affects the nasal mucosa and paranasal sinuses, and lasts for more than 12 weeks. Its symptoms are variable, from nasal congestion, rhinorrhea/post-nasal drip, nasal pain/pressure and anosmia, which in many cases are irreversible. The recommended treatments are the use of systemic corticosteroids, which around 60% of patients do not respond well to, and endoscopic surgery, which can reach 80% of recurrence. Therefore, the study aimed to review and identify the effectiveness of new clinical therapies for the treatment of CRS. The National Library of Medicine (PubMed) and Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) databases were used, with the descriptor “chronic rhinosinusitis treatment”, articles were included over a period of 5 years, free full text and controlled clinical trial type, and Articles outside the topic covered were excluded, resulting in 26 articles. It was possible to identify that new therapies have good prospects. Biologicals, for example, were effective in all studies in improving symptoms. LYR-210, macrolide, ultrasound and intranasal corticosteroids were also effective in improving patients' quality of life. However, pomegranate extract and early cephalosporin use were ineffective. In conclusion, some of the new clinical therapies have a good prospect for being incorporated into treatment protocols for CRS, as they have demonstrated good long-term therapeutic responses, and a therapy considered more effective among those addressed has not been identified.
