NOTAS SOBRE O PATRIMÔNIO DE CIÊNCIA E TECNOLOGIA EM REGISTROS FOTOGRÁFICOS: o acervo da UFPE, a ciência e os cientistas
Este trabalho visa apresentar
reflexões de natureza teórica e metodológica
acerca do patrimônio de ciência e tecnologia no
acervo fotográfico da Universidade Federal de
Pernambuco (UFPE). O acervo de fotografias
da UFPE é composto por aproximadamente
vinte mil fotografias, a sua maioria em preto e
branco, produzidas no contexto institucional,
entre 1946 e 2002. São fotografias que registram
os momentos que a instituição considerou
significativos para sua história, abrangendo
inaugurações, eventos, construções,
festividades, solenidades, entre outras vivências
que foram consideradas relevantes para serem
perenizadas através do registro fotográfico.
Após o tratamento físico deste acervo realizouse
uma seleção de imagens que foram
consideradas, pelas autoras, como relativas ao
patrimônio de C&T, sendo possível identificar
alguns padrões no tipo de fotografia produzida,
que indicam o predomínio de determinados
recortes do patrimônio de C&T, seja por
áreas do conhecimento, seja pela forma de
representação dos cientistas, seja pela exclusão
de determinadas áreas do conhecimento.
Percebe-se, portanto, que este acervo, apesar
de ter sido produzido durante cerca de meio
século, e por duas dezenas de fotógrafos
diferentes, apresenta construções imagéticas
que criam uma representação idealizada da
ciência e dos cientistas, se distanciando da ideia
de ciência como atividade de trabalho cotidiano,
mesmo em uma universidade. Este trabalho
dialoga especialmente com o referencial teórico
proposto por RIEGL (1999), DELICADO (2008,
2015), PANESE (2007), LOUREIRO (2009),
GRANATO (2009) e MANINI (2002), autores
que versam sobre a comunicação científica,
identificação e registro do patrimônio de C&T,
como também os que propõem metodologias
específicas para o tratamento informacional
da fotografia. Desta forma, o trabalho visa
contribuir com a ampliação da discussão acerca
do Patrimônio de Ciência e Tecnologia partindo
do documento fotográfico, compreendido como
o próprio objeto de C&T.

Abstract:
This paper presents theoretical and
methodological reflections about science and
technology heritage in the photographic collection
of the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE).
The UFPE photo collection consists of about
twenty thousand photographs, mostly in black
and white, produced in the institutional context,
between 1946 and 2002. They are photographs
that record the moments that the institution
considered significant for its history, covering inaugurations, events, buildings, festivals,
ceremonies, and other experiences that were considered relevant to be eternalized
through the photographic record. After the physical treatment of this collection took
place a selection of images that were considered by the authors as related to S & T
heritage, it is possible to identify some patterns in the type of photography produced,
indicating the predominance of certain cuts of the equity of S & T heritage, or by areas
of knowledge, either by way of representation of scientists, is the exclusion of certain
areas of knowledge. It is clear, therefore, that this collection, although it was produced
for about half a century, and two dozen different photographers, presents imagery
buildings that create an idealized representation of science and scientists, shunning
science idea as daily work activity, even at a university. This work dialogues especially
with the theoretical framework proposed by RIEGL (1999), DELICATE (2008, 2015),
PANESE (2007), LOUREIRO (2009), GRANATO (2009) and MANINI (2002), authors
who deal with science communication, identification and registration of S & T assets,
as well as those who propose specific methodologies for informational treatment of
photography. Thus, the work aims to contribute to expanding the discussion of Science
and Technology Heritage starting from the photographic document, approached as the
S&T object itself.
