Abstract: After eight years competing in Adventure Races (AR), I became a mother. My pregnancy coincided with my acceptance into a master's program in Physical Education, where I studied female AR athletes. This research revealed the challenges faced by women in this male-dominated sport and led to a doctoral project focusing on mother-athletes. However, the research has been complicated by my own personal challenges. My academic, athletic, and caregiving journey with my child has prompted me to reflect on my own life experience and the need to integrate this 'embodied objectivity' into research. Using ethnography as my approach, I aim to reflect on gender and motherhood in sports through the lens of my participation in the November 2023 Expedition Terra de Gigantes, a 250-kilometer race lasting approximately 30 hours without breaks. This race involved mountain biking, trekking, canoeing, and map navigation, with my husband and son present to support my team in the final stage of the Brazilian AR championship.
