NO SOM VIBRANTE DA MARIMBA E DAS BATIDAS DO ATABAQUE RESISTE A CONGADA DE SÃO BENEDITO – PATRIMÔNIO RELIGIOSO DO LITORAL NORTE PAULISTA",
Este artigo pretende examinar alguns aspectos da Festa da Congada de São Benedito do município de São Sebastião, litoral norte do Estado de São Paulo. Descrevemos e interpretamos os modos como seus dançadores transmitem conhecimentos específicos sobre a festa, codificando e decodificando mensagens que se reportam ao mudo visível, mas também ao mundo invisível, cuja apreensão e compreensão abarcam códigos, modulação e educação dos sentidos de ordem diversa e específica. Utilizamos uma abordagem etnográfica, através da observação participativa, na intenção de lançar um olhar “de perto e de dentro”, de modo a captar discursos cosmológicos e as conexões estabelecidas entre catolicismo, memória africana, memória caiçara e ancestralidade.

Abstract:
This article intends to examine some aspects of the Festa da Congada de São Benedito in the municipality of São Sebastião, north coast of the State of São Paulo. We describe and interpret the ways in which its dancers transmit specific knowledge about the party, encoding and decoding messages that relate to the visible world, but also to the invisible world, whose apprehension and understanding encompass codes, modulation and education of senses of a diverse and specific order. We use an ethnographic approach, through participatory observation, with the intention of taking a “close and inside” look, in order to capture cosmological discourses and the connections established between Catholicism, African memory, caiçara memory and ancestry.
