Abstract: This article aims to problematize the recent history of the municipality of Rolim de Moura by discussing contemporary elements that compose it, as well as its toponymy and by establishing dialogues with the past, especially the mid-18th century, the period in which the Captaincy was founded. of Mato Grosso and who was responsible for this feat by the Portuguese nobleman who was sent to the overseas colony in America with the aim of founding the capital Vila Bela da Santíssima Trindade, also called Antônio Rolim de Moura. The adopted argumentative framework takes as its presupposition the rejection or attempts to control indigenous peoples and the uses of the spatiality of the Rondônia Amazon, which are different over the centuries, while maintaining similarities with regard to the difficulties and political interests regarding the phenomenon in question. that the “beija-mão” or subalternities towards the so-called current Portuguese or local authorities are still noticeable. The methodology undertaken corresponds to the analysis of documentary sources, such as Rolim de Moura's correspondence, compiled by the Regional Documentation and Historical Information Center of the Federal University of Mato Grosso, the Annals of Vila Bela da Santíssima Trindade, as well as sources on current affairs location on news portals published in digital media available on the current World Wide Web (INTERNET). An authorial bias was adopted, works that deal with the history and historiography of Mato Grosso, including CANAVARROS (2004), GALETTI (2012), RÉMOND (2003) and BOSI (1992) and as a theoretical foundation contributed to the approach to Social and Political History.
