Abstract: In recent years, the growing pursuit of physical fitness and body aesthetics has led to increased demand for bodybuilding gyms and dietary strategies aimed at optimizing results for individuals engaged in physical activity. Alongside exercise, there has been a notable rise in the consumption of ergogenic aids (EAs) and dietary supplements (DSs) by those seeking to enhance body image and training outcomes. This study aimed to evaluate the level of knowledge and usage of ergogenic resources among bodybuilding practitioners in a city in the interior of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The research was conducted on-site between December 2021 and January 2022 using a semi-structured questionnaire to assess participants' profiles, awareness of EAs, and consumption habits. The gym had 167 members, of whom 44.91% (n = 75) participated in the study—50.7% (n = 38) female and 49.3% (n = 37) male. Among participants, 69.3% (n = 52) had a higher education level, and 70.0% of them had been practicing bodybuilding for over a year. Most participants reported being familiar with ergogenic aids, with the internet as their primary source of information. However, those who used these products typically did so based on recommendations from a nutritionist. The main motivations for engaging in physical activity were health benefits (43.2%), improved quality of life (43.2%), physical conditioning (41.9%), and muscle hypertrophy (40.5%). The most commonly known and used supplements were whey protein, creatine, glutamine, BCAA, and albumin. The findings underscore the importance of health education initiatives to raise awareness among fitness practitioners about the appropriate integration of exercise and nutrition for overall health promotion.
