Abstract: This study documents an agroecological urban gardening intervention implemented at the Teletón Institute in Puerto Montt, Chile, with a primary focus on children with functional diversity. Through the establishment of an inclusive urban garden and a workshop program based on a learning-by-doing methodology, educational and therapeutic processes were integrated around small-scale food production. Results indicate that 71% of participants identified at least ten vegetable species, 64% understood their life cycles, 79% showed progress in functional and autonomy-related dimensions, and 93% perceived the garden as a space that promotes well-being. The experience demonstrates that agroecology can operate as a pedagogical and rehabilitative tool that strengthens inclusion, participation, and connection with nature in contexts of functional diversity.
