Abstract: This study investigated the effects of Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS) on individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The research included a systematic review and a proof-of-concept clinical trial combining tDCS with electroencephalogram (EEG) as an electrophysiological biomarker. Results showed that tDCS can modulate cortical activity in key brain regions, improving attention, cognition, and social behavior. EEG analysis revealed significant changes in alpha and theta frequency bands, correlating with clinical responses. The systematic review highlighted a promising but still developing research field, with a need for standardized protocols and larger samples. We conclude that tDCS is a safe and viable therapeutic strategy, offering encouraging outcomes for clinical applications in ASD.
