Abstract: After the realization that natural resources are finite and that, in order to ensure their continued existence, humanity must pay attention to nature, sustainability has become the main goal to be achieved. The UN, along with other organizations and scholars, affirms that only through sustainability is it possible to delay our extinction. It is essential to observe and pursue all dimensions of sustainability, regardless of how many there may be. Classical thought identifies three, some perspectives claim there are five, and others suggest eight dimensions. However, due to the anthropocentric mindset and posture of humanity—in which humans believe themselves to be the center of the world and see nature merely as a tool for survival—sustainability becomes unattainable. Therefore, overcoming this paradigm is crucial for sustainability to be perceived as an achievable goal. Through biocentric thinking, and by reaching the awareness that we, as human beings, are part of a collective, we begin to respect the intrinsic value of the environment, which not only serves us, but also needs to be served, cared for, and protected. In this way, sustainability is no longer an unattainable ideal.
