Abstract: This article discusses the concept of interactive narrative in online digital environments, articulating theoretical contributions from authors such as Janet Murray, Henry Jenkins, Lev Manovich, Christy Dena and Jane McGonigal. The study starts from a broad definition of narrative - understood as a series of events connected around a plot - to advance toward the specificity of digital interactive narrative, in which the user/viewer assumes an active role in the construction and modification of the story. The concept of story-space, proposed by Murray, is adopted as a central analytical category and unfolded into three essential attributes: interface design, aesthetics and functionality. The article then examines architectural models of interactive narrative - with emphasis on Alternate Reality Games (ARG) and the Foldback model - and analyzes Transmedia Storytelling (TS) strategies as narrative extensions that expand the creative universe of the viewer/user. It is concluded that interactive narrative constitutes a phenomenon still under experimentation, whose potential depends on the implementation of complex production and dissemination mechanisms, as well as greater theoretical systematization.
