• Abstract: Objective: To reflect on the challenges of nursing in urgent and emergency services. Methodology: This is a theoretical-reflective study based on current scientific studies available in the Virtual Health Library (VHL) in February 2024, in the following databases: Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO), Latin American Literature and the Caribbean in Health Sciences (LILACS) and National Library of Medicine (MEDLINE). Results: The study highlighted the complexity and importance of nursing in urgent and emergency services, showing that these professionals face a series of unique challenges, from intense pressure and fast pace to the emotional aspects involved in care in critical situations. Conclusion: Therefore, the importance of institutional policies that promote healthy working conditions, adequate recognition and continuous training programs is emphasized, aiming to contribute to strengthening the nursing team and improving the care provided in urgent and emergency services.
