MULHERES, EDUCADORAS E COM UMA FÉ DIFERENTE: OS ENCONTROS DE LAURA AMAZONAS E NEYDE MESQUITA
O referido estudo se propõe a apresentar a trajetória das educadoras
Laura Amazonas e Neyde Mesquita, que viveram no Estado de Sergipe entre o fim
do século XIX e século XX. Assim, apresentaremos o “caminhar” dessas
educadoras e suas contribuições à História da Educação Espírita. A presença de
ambas não ficou apenas no campo educacional, mas também no campo social,
principalmente quando partilharam do ideal de que as mulheres podiam ter um papel
mais importante na sociedade. Fizeram-se, dessa maneira, presentes na
comunidade por meio de ações educativas pela imprensa feminina visando à
promoção da mulher. As educadoras Neyde Mesquita e Laura Amazonas se
dedicaram a uma gama de atividades em função da educação espírita no estado de
Sergipe, enfrentando, inclusive, o preconceito gerado por suas escolhas religiosas.
A presente pesquisa apresenta como referencial teórico-metodológico os
pressupostos da História Cultural e tem como suporte teórico os seguintes autores:
Del Priore, 2008; Almeida, 2007; Freitas, 2007 e Pollak, 1992. Também foram
consultadas e analisadas algumas fontes, a saber: jornais, depoimentos orais, teses
de mestrados e bibliografia especializada. Por fim, para a realização da pesquisa
documental, buscamos várias instituições: Instituto Histórico de Sergipe (IHGS),
Arquivo da União Espírita de Sergipe e o Arquivo da Casa do Pequenino.

Abstract:
This study aims to present the trajectory of the teachers Laura Amazonas
and Neyde Mesquita, who lived in the state of Sergipe between the end of the
nineteenth and twentieth century. Thus, we present the "walk" of these teachers and
their contributions to the history of the Spiritist Education. The presence of both was
not only in education but also in the social field, especially when shared the ideal that
women They could have a more important role in society. They were made in this
way in the community through educational activities for women's press for the
promotion of women. Educators Neyde Mesquita and Laura Amazonas dedicated
themselves to a range of activities depending on the spiritualistic education in the
state of Sergipe, facing even the prejudice generated by their religious choices. This
research presents as theoretical and methodological assumptions of Cultural History
and its theoretical support the following authors: Del Priore, 2008; Almeida, 2007;
Freitas, 2007 and Pollak, 1992 were also consulted and analyzed some sources,
namely: newspapers, oral testimony, master's theses and specialized bibliography.
Finally, for the realization of documentary research, we seek various institutions:
Instituto Histórico de Sergipe (IHGs) Arquivo da União Espírita de Sergipe and
Arquivo da Casa do Pequenino.
