MULHERES À MARGEM DA MATERNIDADE NA LITERATURA NEGRA
Na leitura de textos literários de escritoras de origem afro-americana, caribenha e brasileira, depreende-se a recorrência de personagens mães cujas histórias são marcadas por questões de gênero e raça que se distanciam de representações desse papel em produções da literatura europeia. Ao dimensionar leituras com ênfase em personagens mães, foi possível delinear dois quadros, em termos generalizantes e para fins de estudo. No primeiro, contemplam-se mulheres cuja maternidade é atravessada por uma problemática relativa a reflexões sobre emancipação feminina, isenta da problemática da desigualdade racial, que atua na moldura das experiências de mães negras. No segundo, decalca-se um quadro em que se flagram mães negras cujas vidas são circunscritas por uma paisagem marcada por questões raciais, históricas, culturais e sociais que enunciam uma maternidade distanciada de imagens que ilustram essa condição. O contraste que esses quadros apresentam convida à reflexão sobre os instrumentais teóricos que podem ser usados em sua análise e acrescenta ao feminismo evocado em estudos sobre mulheres o adjetivo “negro”. Este texto tem, portanto, o intuito de compor um mapa de representações de mães nos dois lados do Atlântico, sob um prisma feminista, com o intuito de refletir sobre a condição de mães em variados textos literários, considerando diferenças e refletindo sobre esquemas de naturalização que encobrem desigualdades nesses quadros.

Abstract:
The reading of literary texts by African-American, Caribbean, and Brazilian women writers reveals the recurrence of mother characters whose stories are marked by gender and race issues that distance themselves from representations of this role in European literary productions. By dimensioning readings with emphasis on mother characters, it was possible to delineate two frames, in generalizing terms and for study purposes. In the first, women whose motherhood is crossed by a problem related to reflections on female emancipation, exempt from the problem of racial inequality, which acts in the frame of the experiences of black mothers. In the second, there is a picture in which black mothers’ lives are circumscribed by a landscape marked by racial, historical, cultural, and social issues that enunciate a distanced motherhood of images that illustrate this condition. The contrast presented by these situations invites reflection on the theoretical instruments that can be used in their analysis and adds to the feminism evoked in women’s studies the adjective “black”. That said, this text aims to compose a map of representations of mothers on both sides of the Atlantic, under a feminist perspective, with the purpose of reflecting on the condition of mothers in various literary texts, considering differences and reflecting on naturalization schemes, which cover inequalities in the abovementioned situations.
