Abstract: The monographs carried out by undergraduate students contribute to the training of future Science and Biology teachers, as well as making it possible to identify the reality and scenario of the content covered in Basic and Higher Education. In this study we analyzed the State of the Art of the monographs developed in the Degree Course in Biological Sciences at the Faculty of Education, Sciences and Letters of Iguatu, a unit of the State University of Ceará. With a quantitative research approach, 89 monographs were analyzed (period 2011 – 2017), in order to identify and analyze the thematic axes, scenarios and methodological paths. To analyze the data collected from documentary research, descriptive statistics were applied. The results indicate that the monographs have different thematic axes, with the largest number in Environmental Education (21%), Education and Health (21%) and Teaching Training and Practice (17%). Regarding methodological trends, research with a qualitative approach is the most used (48%). Regarding the scenarios, 92% were carried out in public schools. In relation to education levels, most research was carried out in Elementary School (38%) and High School (35%). From this study it is noted that the monographs developed in the Course in question present a diversity of topics covered, however, gaps still remain. This recognition allows us to instigate new research scenarios and approaches for future work, which will certainly contribute to the knowledge shared in the academic community of this institution, consequently with the initial training of Science and Biology teachers.
