Abstract: Zoology is the branch of biology that studies animal life. Zoology is a discipline with dense content, however, its study is of utmost importance for understanding life on the planet. The monitoring program is necessary to assist students during activities carried out in the classroom or in the laboratory. The objective of this work was to record and reflect on the importance of monitoring in the discipline of Invertebrate Zoology. The practical activities in the laboratory consisted of different practices. External morphology and internal structures of individuals of the phylum Porifera and Cnidaria were observed, as well as the characteristics of representatives of the Protista kingdom. The activities obtained positive results, considering that, when doubts arose from students, the monitoring program could assist in the pedagogical process. It is worth emphasizing that the monitoring program should not be underestimated, being a valuable strategy to improve the didactic-methodological approach, not only in Zoology disciplines, but in the entire educational context. Thus, the monitoring activity becomes extremely important for the training of students and also for the professional training of the monitor.
