MODERNISMO EM MACEIÓ: edificações esquecidas do Jaraguá ao Centro.
Este artigo surge como resultado de uma experiência empírica nos bairros do Centro e do Jaraguá, na cidade de Maceió-AL. O objetivo desta pesquisa foi analisar aspectos dos mesmos, identificando problemas, potencialidades, recursos e riscos neles, assim como desenvolver posteriores propostas para sua melhoria. Para isso, elencaram-se oito elementos principais, a partir de um trajeto percorrido, que foram base para as análises: as edificações históricas institucionais e residenciais, os vazios urbanos, ruas, calçadas e praças, além da praia e do riacho Salgadinho, considerando os trechos que fizeram parte do percurso. Percebe-se que os bairros descritos são ricos em beleza natural, possuem grande valor ambiental e patrimônio histórico elevado, mas devido à marginalização que vêm sofrendo no século XXI estão subutilizados e em decadência. Para reverter a situação, além do apoio do governo, sabe-se que é preciso uma maior conscientização da população de Maceió sobre a sua importância. Além disso, durante as visitas aos bairros citados, foram os edifícios modernistas que atraíram maior atenção. Apesar do seu atual descaso, essas edificações marcaram uma época que ainda é pouco valorizada entre a sociedade alagoana em geral, justificando a importância do estudo ao trazer à tona essas construções. Não somente como símbolos físicos da identidade modernista, os edifícios são o resultado de uma forma de pensar característica do movimento, marcado pela “atitude alagoana”, como foi definido por SILVA. É, acima de tudo, essa atitude que se pretende resgatar, investigar e entender melhor para que a preservação do modernismo de Maceió comece a ser priorizada e não mais esquecida.

Abstract:
This article emerges as a result of an empirical experience in the neighborhoods of Center and Jaraguá, in the city of Maceió-AL. The aim of this research was to analyse their aspects, identifying problems, potentialities, resources and risks in them, as well as to develop further proposals for their improvement. So, eight main elements were listed, based on a path taken, which were the basis for the analysis: the historic institutional and residential buildings, the urban voids, streets, sidewalks and squares, in addition to the beach and the Salgadinho creek, considering the stretches that were part of the route. It is noticed that the neighborhoods are rich in natural beauty, have great environmental value and abundante historical heritage, but due to the marginalization that they have been suffering in the 21st century, they are underutilized and in decay. To change the situation, in addition to government support, it is known that greater awareness, regarding its importance, from the population of Maceió is needed. Also, during visits to the mantioned neighborhoods, the modernist buildings were given the most attention. Despite their current neglect, these buildings marked an era that has still little value among Alagoas society in general, justifying the importance of the study in bringing these constructions to the surface. Not only as physical symbols of the modernist identity, the buildings are the result of a way of thinking that is characteristic of the movement, marked by the “Alagoas attitude”, as defined by SILVA. It is, above all, this attitude that is intended to be rescued, investigated and understood so that Maceió's modernism preservation begins to be prioritized and no longer forgotten.
