Abstract: In the present topic, sociocritical research was used with a descriptive and purposeful methodology. For this purpose, an academic model was developed, which was designed as a guide for carrying out activities for the training of students' competencies in the area of animal health in the career of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Zootechny. from the Gabriel René Moreno Autonomous University. This research is within the mixed or socio-critical paradigm with qualitative and quantitative data. This research work is descriptive and purposeful, not experimental. Deductive, descriptive and statistical methods were used. In the field work, it was found that 100% of both the students and the professionals/graduates of Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics need an academic model to control the formation of competencies, through planning. in the management and administration of the academic training process in the area of animal health, to improve the academic level of all of them. This model will help monitor and assess compliance with the curriculum, services and teachers, starting in the area of animal health. It will be possible to feel the conditions in which the training by competences is currently being developed, giving it the respective follow-up, control and evaluation in all training activities of the students of the Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics career.
