Abstract: Objective: The aim of this article is to record, in the form of a synthesis, the main mental health disorders in the first responders by reviewing studies dealing with the subject, and at the same time perform a sociodemographic characterization of the participants included in the revised studies. Method: Article of review. A total of 70 articles were reviewed and passed through several eligibility filters resulting in 20 validated articles. Results: An overall gender ratio of male first responders was found to be 76.28% and female was found to be 23.65% with an average age of 40 years. The most reported traumatic events were incidents involving dead children, accidents with serious injuries, acts of violence or threats and suicide attempts. The mental health disorders most experienced by those tested were burnout syndrome and post-traumatic stress disorder. Conclusions: Evidence based on the review of articles, the absence and importance of timely psychological interventions to prevent and educate first responders about the mental impairments to which they are exposed during their work.
