Abstract: This study is part of a broader project entitled “Schistosomiasis and enteroparasitoses: epidemiological surveillance associated with environmental and health education,” carried out in public schools in the municipalities of Arceburgo and Guaranésia, located within the jurisdiction of the Regional Health Superintendence of Alfenas-MG (SRS-Alfenas-MG). The educational activities targeted 5th-grade elementary school students and were conducted with the participation of undergraduate students from the Federal University of Alfenas (UNIFAL-MG), under the supervision of professors from the Basic Parasitology course. The main objective was to raise children's awareness of parasitic diseases and encourage the adoption of hygienic habits as preventive measures. This awareness process was also essential to foster active participation in the health project, particularly in the donation of biological samples (blood and feces) for the investigation of schistosomiasis and enteroparasitoses. The activities included theoretical and practical lessons, complemented by playful strategies such as educational games and a mobile parasitology laboratory. The effectiveness of these methods was assessed in both municipalities. Most children showed good engagement and understanding of the content, including knowledge of parasite transmission and prevention. In Guaranésia, results were more positive: 65.1% of parents signed the consent form, and 58.1% and 44.2% of students provided blood and fecal samples, respectively. In Arceburgo, these rates were lower: 43.1% of consent forms were signed, and 23.8% and 31.7% of students provided blood and feces, respectively. In conclusion, the use of playful activities proved to be effective methodological tools for promoting scientific knowledge, encouraging healthy habits, and increasing participation in the health project, reinforcing their importance as educational and community engagement strategies.
