Abstract: Soil is a dynamic and complex environment and is home to a great diversity of macro- and micro-organisms. The discontinuity and variability in the size of soil particles and aggregates make it possible for it to be made up of countless small communities invisible to the naked eye. Microorganisms work to maintain soil fertility by cycling nutrients, influencing their availability, improving soil structure, supporting healthy plant growth, and degrading organic pollutants. This literature review was prepared with the aim of carrying out a bibliographical survey on soil biology, focusing on microbiological issues related to soil quality and forage production.
