Abstract: Meniscectomy is widely used in the treatment of meniscal injuries, but its effectiveness has been questioned. Studies indicate that the procedure does not offer significant advantages over physiotherapy and may accelerate knee degeneration. Regenerative alternatives, such as scaffolds and autografts, show greater potential for preserving joint function. Additionally, physiotherapy has proven to be a more cost-effective and safer option. Thus, meniscectomy should be indicated with caution, especially in young and active patients, prioritizing conservative strategies to minimize long-term impacts.
