• Abstract: During cancer treatment, patients face significant challenges, including the need for regular administration of medications and intravenous therapies. In this context, the Port-a-Cath catheter plays a crucial role, offering an effective solution to ensure safe and continuous vascular access. Unlike conventional peripheral venous punctures, which can be painful and present complications such as extravasation or thrombosis, the Port-a-Cath catheter provides greater comfort and minimizes the risk of injury to the veins, making nursing assistance essential. Based on this perspective, the present work aims to analyze nursing care with the Port-a-Cath catheter in oncology patients. The research was developed based on a bibliographical study, recognized as a fundamental method to familiarize oneself with the current state of knowledge in a specific field. When reviewing existing literature in electronic sources, academic databases, digital libraries and academic search engines such MEDILE, LILACS e BDENF were included. This approach allowed for a comprehensive and effective search, gathering information relevant to the objectives set. With a solid knowledge base, it became clear that the effectiveness of care offered to cancer patients depends significantly on the appropriate use of the device. At all stages of the process, the active and diligent involvement of nursing professionals is essential, as they play an indispensable role in the management and care of patients. From device insertion to maintenance, nurses ensure that patients receive the necessary treatments in a safe and comfortable way, thus contributing to a better quality of life during cancer treatment.
