Abstract: The objective of the work is to carry out a critical reflection on how the STATE and society, especially in countries with a colonial trajectory, understand the process of mothers who give their children up for adoption, based on the theoretical-critical reading between Foucault's concept of Biopower and the Psychology of Liberation by Martin-Baró. Latin American society presents a cultural and social trajectory that, even in the 21st century, judges and condemns women, when they do not meet the socially expected standards, as a chaste, virtuous woman and an absolutely dedicated mother, since Latin culture presents traits important aspects of Christian colonialist culture, permeated by perverse judgments when a woman “gives up” her motherhood, by giving her child up for adoption, with a cruel interpretation of this woman’s non-place in society. The method adopted was a qualitative design with studies focused on social psychology, especially Ignacio Martin-Baró's Liberation Psychology, as well as the control over female bodies and its relationship with Foucault's Biopower. This research revealed that a lot of struggle and revolution is still needed for women to have the right to their bodies and desires, and it is important to think about the construction of community work that raises awareness politically, economically and educationally, with a theory and praxis that uses both Liberation Psychology, as well as Pedagogy and Liberation Theology, since Churches still use body castration through blind faith and ideologies of sin, which are crossed by Health professionals and the STATE, making it impossible for women to be free in their desires and bodies.
