Abstract: Martha Graham's project (1894 - 1991) should be seen as a political act in proposing the transformation of the scene into new arrangements. The ambition of the much-vaunted “emotional interiority” finds a guardhouse in its own format and, as a consequence, offers another scenic vocabulary through training and understanding of the dancing body: the “intimate sensation” provided by the binomial contraction/release, especially from the floor work, in advertising and in the need to give horizontality to what is in contact with the female anatomy. Borrowing the expression “house of pelvic truth” reinforces what we imagine this displacement promoted by her through insisting on the female anatomy, when configuring as a dance language.
