MARIA GRAHAM:A POLISSÊMICA NARRATIVA DA ESCRITORA INGLESA,SOBRE OS BRASIS DAS PRIMEIRAS DÉCADAS DO OITOCENTOS .
A narrativa plural da escritora
inglesa Maria Graham (1785-1842), manifesta
nas sensíveis textualidades das fontes
Diário de uma Viagem ao Brasil (1990), e
Escorço Biográfico de Dom Pedro I (1997),
é investigada nesse artigo, compreendendo
o recorte temporal entre os anos de 1821 a
1825. Como ativa observadora social, tanto
quanto, protagonista em importantes diálogos
diplomáticos, a exemplo de sua participação
na Confederação do Equador, pressupomos
que a autora construiu a escrita, consciente da
importância histórica das turbulências políticas
e sociais vivenciadas por ela naqueles dias. A
partir desta premissa, inferimos que isso forjaria
a originalidade de uma narrativa genuinamente
autoral. Evidenciamos, para tanto, que durante
o ato de construção da escrita, a autora teceu
interpretações próprias sobre as realidades
observadas, mesclando continuamente as
peculiaridades nativas, aos seus referenciais
culturais europeus. Quando chegou à América
Portuguesa, aos 36 anos, Mrs. Graham já era
famosa na Inglaterra por ser autora de quatro
livros publicados nos gêneros de Literatura
de Viagem e de Memória, além de notável
pintora. Entendemos, que a relevância deste
estudo dar-se-á por sua pertinência no campo
das abordagens investigativas e interpretativas
da historiografia contemporânea, acerca da
contribuição das mulheres viajantes nos diversos
processos de transferências de mentalidades e
das práticas socioculturais no século XIX.

Abstract:
The plural narrative of the English
writer Maria Graham (1785-1842), manifested
in the sensitive textualities of the sources
Journal of a Voyage to Brazil (1990), and Dom
Pedro I Biographical Foreshortening (1997),
is investigated in this article, comprising the
timeframe between 1821 and 1825.As an active
social observer, as well as a protagonist in
several important diplomatics dialogues, such
as her participation in the Confederação of
Ecuador, we assume that the author built writing,
aware of the historical importance of political turmoil and experienced by her in those
days.From this premise,we infer that this would forge the originality of a genuinely
authoral narrative.Thus,during the construction of wrinting,the author made her own
interpretations of the observed realities, continually mixing the native peculiarities with
their European cultural references.When she arrived in Portuquese America at the age
of 36, Mrs. Graham was alredy famous in England for being the author of four books
published in the Travel and Memory Literature genres, as well as a noted painter.
We undertand that, the relevance of this study, will be due to the relevance in the
field of investigative and interpretative approaches of contemporary historiografy,about
the contribuition of female travelers, in the various processes of mentality tranfer and
sociocultural pratices in the nineteenth century.
