MAR SEM FIM: DIVERSIDADE BIOLÓGICA E A PROTEÇÃO NACIONAL E INTERNACIONAL DOS OCEANOS
Nos oceanos e mares encontra-se a maior parte dos seres vivos e da biodiversidade existente. Essa imensa área desempenha, desde a origem da vida humana, um papel essencial garantindo a vida e a estabilidade ambiental do planeta. O papel dos oceanos e mares é fundamental não só para os homens, mas, também, para todo o sistema planetário. Porém, essa importante área marinha está em constante ameaça devido a várias atividades humanas, como a sobrepesca, a poluição, a exploração dos recursos e o aquecimento global, sendo um problema de interesse e preocupação mundial. No presente estudo serão abordadas as soluções existentes para as ameaças que os oceanos enfrentam, como tratados, convenções e leis, tanto no plano nacional como no plano internacional. Além disso, buscar-se-á entender a eficácia e a abrangência dessas medidas. Apesar de existirem vários meios de proteção, conclui-se que ainda falta muito para se alcançar uma proteção eficiente dos oceanos e mares, que, por sua vez, não são tratados com a devida importância pela maior parte da população mundial. A forma com que os governos enfrentam a crise dos oceanos não apresentou mudanças significativas nos últimos anos. Uma parte significativa dos ecossistemas marinhos continua sem nenhum tipo de proteção, e, hoje, a biodiversidade marinha já se encontra reduzida em 50%.

Abstract:
In the oceans and seas we find most of the living beings and the existing biodiversity. Since the origin of human life, this immense area plays an essential role, ensuring the life and the environmental stability of the planet. The role of the oceans and seas is fundamental not only for men, but for every planetary system. However, this important marine areais constantly thre atened by several human activities, such as overfishing, pollution, resource exploration and global warming, being a problem of interests and a global concern. In the present study, we will address existing solutions to the threats facing the oceans, such as treaties, conventions and laws, both nationally and internationally. In addition, we will seek to understand the effectiveness and comprehensiveness of the semeasures. Although there are several means of protection, it is concluded that there is still much to be done to ensure efficient protection of the oceans and seas, which are not treated with due importance by the majority of the world's population. The way governments deal with the ocean crisis has not changed significantly in the last years. A significant part of the eco system remains unprotected, and marine biodiversity is now reduced by 50%. Could the next mass extinction have begun?
