Abstract: The area of Engineering I, belonging to the large area of Engineering, covers the basic areas of Civil Engineering, Sanitary Engineering and Transport Engineering (CAPES, 2022). This is an area of knowledge that plays a fundamental role in contemporary society, from the expansion of infrastructure to the solution of economic and social problems: decent housing is the right of the population, optimized logistics facilitates transport, environmental organization and waste treatment promote public health (SANTOS et al., 2016). It is worth mentioning that many of the challenges faced by Engineering I are complex and multifaceted. Therefore, the research allows approaching these problems in a systematic way, using scientific and technological methods to find viable and effective solutions. In this sense, the existence of suitable research environments to foster it is essential. Indeed, this article - through a case study, using a quantitative approach, of an applied nature, with exploratory objectives - proposes to map and diagnose the research environments of the IFMT Campus Cuiabá - Cel. Octayde Jorge da Silva (IFMT - Campus Cuiabá) related to the area of Engineering I, in order to offer the academic community and public managers systematized and consolidated information about these spaces.
